I promise to not update 2 times aday normally, unless like now I have something fun to share.
After Audrey got back from school, we were making a snack and I decided to try to incorporate the candy apple candy corns I got during grocery shopping.
So here goes, a remake of an old favorite:
Butter Square Pretzels
White Chocolate Candy rounds( baking section in a bag)
candy apple candy corn, brown white and orange....like a turkey feather.
Place the chocolate on the pretzel and soften in the oven at 350 degrees for 5 minutes, or until soft, but not so soft it melts thru the pretzel.
Place candy corns, melt 1 more minute in the oven in they need to "stick" better.
let cool and keep cool. These make great little treats to put in a small jar or bag and give out, or just to keep on hand to enjoy yourself....salty and sweet!
YUM.
Then, I remembered I have a few "Bugs" that Hallamrk had on clearance last year that are like little backpacks that you can fill with candy and they have poseable arms to hold a card....so I filled up two; one for Nana and Pap that we will surprise them with tonight and one for Mrs. Janet, Audreys Mothers Day Out Teacher for tomorrow to go along with her class snacks.
So nice to surprise someone any day of the year!
Happy Halloween!

Halloween Sweets for the sweeties
My daughter was so excited to deliver special treats to her pre-school classmates this morning.
With an ear to ear smile and pride written all over her face, she carried these little blow pop/pipe cleaner/googley eyed spiders into her classroom.
Super easy to make, you just need the above materials and a glue gun.
As I got into my car and drove to the grocery store, I was already plotting what treat we could make for tomorrows class. I had like 10 ideas, but when I went into the candy aisle, I narrowed it down to "the" idea quickly. I saw these done with ghost marshmellow peeps. So, when I saw the cute little jack-o-lantern peeps, I had to say yes.
Here is all you need: marshmellow peeps, you can do any, you can also substitute colored marshmellows.
2 graham crackers, and 2 fun size chocolate bars. Stack the crackers, chocolate, then peeps in a small plastic sandwich bag tie with a ribbon, add a tag....viola....halloween smores.
I have to say, Audrey has 10 girls in her class and her teacher, and we had enough for 12...so she and I split one, just to try it...lol....heaven! Yes, heaven! Super cute and super tasty!

Oh theres....no place like HAPPY for the Holidays
I LOVE the holidays!
Right around the middle of October, I start to dream-up what the holidays will look like for my family.
What gifts will I give, what places will I go, what neighbors will we jingle.
I have a 3 year old and this year should be extraordinary for her, as she grasps the concepts of holidays.
My earliest memories of Christmas are of my mom dressing me up in green leotards and a hat and telling me that my dad was "one of Santa's helpers", as she drew on his white eyebrows and cinched up his red suit.
He and I would track to the neighborhood houses and give out presents. And, I still remember the feel of the candle warmth on my face at candlelight services at my tiny little church. To me, my childhood christmases were magical. I want my daughter to tell me 20 years from now that her holiday memories hold that same magic.
I am whole-heartedly excited to introduce this new blog that everyone can enjoy for the holidays, friends and strangers alike. No place like happy for the holidays is pretty easy to remember. Tell your friends.
Starting NOW, but blogging daily beginning November 22nd, I will be doing a 40-day 5 point blog that will consist of:
ONE: a local activity within the Harrisburg/Hershey/Lancaster/Gettysburg area. I plan to post a calendar of local events far ahead, so that all of you can also enjoy the festivities. If you have any events that that you think would be a great addition to this blog, please share them now.
TWO: a new holiday recipe, that I actually make, not that just looks good. This could be a cookie, or it could be an appetizer, or it could be more than one recipe per day. My husband will just be happy I am cooking!
THREE: an ELF on the SHELF idea, since we are introducing our own to our household this year.something fun that we will do with Cookie, our Christmas elf.
FOUR: a holiday craft/gift idea. It might be something for your kiddos to share at school, or something you can create to give away.
FIVE: an advent lesson and activity to do with your family. We did the advent tree last year and it really helped keep us mindful of what we believe is the center of our holiday celebrations, the birth of Jesus. And, at the same time, it made us focus on spending fun times together as a family. From eating green milkshake for breakfast to having a christmas carol dance party, we focus on togetherness.
If you have any events or ideas that you think would be a great addition to this blog, share them now.
This should be great fun! And I hope that you share this with everyone that you know.
I will try to keep it lighthearted and fun to read, while keeping it a resource of information.
Thanks in advance for reading!
There is no place like HAPPY for the HOLIDAYS!
